The Wolf

With my snarling I shall wake
The silence of the forest.
Upon this stump let's settle down,
See who at cards is smartest.

Snotty little squirrels you!
Midget little mouses!
Come to me my sweetie-pies
Wolfs got out his cards-es!
Who will come to toss them round?
Who will come to deal them out?
Who's the one who's dealt about?
Who's the one who's tossed around?
Eyes and claws and teeth and fangs
Promise such great pleasure,
Bind my wrists and clench my fists
Let's sing along for good measure.

Kings and queens and aces four
Great in my estimation,
Chubby bunnies even more
Are ripe for my delectation.

If only someone nice I found
In this old grove to feast on,
But I've heard that a wolfhound pack has come
To seek me out to prey on.

Each dog's a killer through and through
My blood runs cold with fearing,
I should have been a sight more keen
On a truce - can I hear them nearing?
