The Walrus and The Polar Bear

Where the cold is like a nightmare,
Where there’s snow and ice all round,
Polar Bear and Uncle Walrus,
Where one is the other’s found.
We go out on our toboggans
       Seeing who can faster ride.
Day and night we are so happy,
Sun, fresh air and games outside.

Never looking at our watches,
We’ve no clocks to show the time.
All day long with just our shirts on
Made of wool that’s warm and fine.
       We hear nothing of safaris,
Swimming to up to every berg,
And we pick up all our bargains
At the best bazaars of birds.

We see icebreakers quite often,
Ships go crashing through so bold,
On the decks stand all the sailors,
Faces scarlet with the cold.
Living in the frost is easy –
       Icicles on us don’t stick.
I am white as any birch tree,
Walrus is as brown as brick.

We once heard that there’s a Red Pole
On the top of earth’s round head,
I used skis and he used flippers,
To see if he was what they said.
Three of us would be a party,
It would have been so much fun,
But when we had finally reached it,
       There just wasn’t any one.

As we’re giving friends a mention,
There’s another one who sings.
He lives somewhere very southern,
He goes by the name ‘Penguin’.
Let us find some ice that’s thicker,
Then we’ll sit and take the oars,
So that we’ll reach Penguin quicker,
       See the great Antarctic’s shores.
